Vacation planning is easy with a little help from your friends at Sun King Vacation Rentals. We’ll help you plan your trip and organize an itinerary with tips on airports, rental cars, vacation rentals, grocery stores, and things to do in Marco Island when you’re here.
Making travel plans, booking flights, dealing with big online travel agents like Airbnb or VRBO can be stressful. We think planning your trip should be fun. We hope that this guide will give you most of the vital information you need to make planning your trip easier.
As far as major commercial airports go, the closest airport to Marco Island is the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers (RSW). It’s often called the Fort Myers Airport. We recommend you fly into Fort Myers over the larger airports like Miami International or Fort Lauderdale. Not only is Fort Myers a little closer, but it’s also much easier to get out of than the big ones are. Traveling to Marco from Fort Myers is a quick 50-minute ride through Naples on I-75 and Collier Blvd.
Of course, if you’re flying into one of the major airports, you’ll likely just rent a car from one of the vendors at the airport. If you need to rent a car while you’re on Marco, we have several rental companies right on the island. We list all of the rental car companies here.
Hey! Now you’re talkin’. That’s what we do at Sun King! As the world starts to forsake hotels in the interest of getting a more organic experience when they travel, renting individually-owned properties has taken off. Sun King Vacation Rentals specializes in renting homes and condos on Marco Island and in Naples, Florida. Not only do you save money with vacation rentals, but you get so much more. If you’ve never rented a condo before, we’ll walk you through the process. Let us help plan your trip.
Remember, we handle vacation rentals all over Collier County, contact us.
While we highly recommend you stay in a house or condo for rent on Marco (it’s kind of our thing), we do have some great hotels. The Marco Island hotel guide will give you all the information you need to book a hotel room on Marco Island. The JW Marriott offers luxurious accommodations, great restaurants, and fun activities like sailing.
The last thing we think about when planning a vacation – buying groceries. Are there any grocery stores on Marco Island? Are they just small mom & pops? Will I be able to buy what I need? We get these questions all the time from first-timers. Relax. We have full-size, big chain grocery stores right on the island. Between Publix and Winn-Dixie, we have everything. Add to that the cool specialty shops and we have as many grocery options as a bigger city.
Marco Island is the largest of Florida’s Ten Thousand Islands, and it has about 10,000 things to do. Romantic things. Fun things. Kid things. Rainy day things. Whatever you’d like to do, see, eat, or experience, we have it. Our “things to do” guide will help you fill your days with exciting activities on Marco Island and in Naples. The beautiful beaches are a must-see. If you’re a water person, you’ve got the Gulf of Mexico to explore too. Boat tours of Naples and Marco are great. You’ll see dolphins and possibly a manatee or two.
We’re here to help. We truly love Marco Island and we love what we do. We’d love to help you plan your trip to Marco Island. Never hesitate to contact us with questions and concerns. We look forward to serving you.
