Locals and visitors have been eating at Little Bar’s “dive-like” waterfront bar for more than four decades. The Goodland restaurant is open seven days a week with lunch service beginning at 11:30 a.m. and dinner service at 5:00 p.m.
The restaurant is known for its wide selection of fresh food which can be enjoyed in its outdoor seating just steps away from the Gulf of Mexico. The menu is heavy on fish and seafood and changes based on the availability of produce and the season.
Meat lovers won’t feel left out and have a few options. Some of the current items on the menu include BBQ Pork Ribs, two cuts of steaks, or chicken. A Prime Rib special is offered every Wednesday and receives lots of praise on review websites like TripAdvisor and Yelp.
Little Bar is located in Goodland, just east of Marco Island. Goodland has been described as a drinking village with a fishing problem. This should give you some idea of what Little Bar is like. It’s a must-see along with Stan’s Idle Hour, the most famous bar in the little waterfront enclave. If you’re staying on Marco Island, Goodland is 5-10 minutes away. If you’re renting a beach condo, it’ll take about 10 minutes. Your hotel shuttle may drive you there.
The interior seating area is decorated with unique antiques which makes a dining experience even more memorable. For example, the stained glass above the bar predates World War I. The restaurant offers live music and entertainment nearly every day.
Guests should be made aware the restaurant closes for a few months during the off-season period and are urged to call before visiting.
The Sun King has enjoyed Little Bar tremendously. Its a classic watering hole that makes the perfect backdrop for listening to fishing stories and other assorted nonsense. As far as the food is concerned, the Sun King has never eaten here but has heard good things. The Sun King has been known to belly-up and have a pint, though. If you’d like a memorable drinking experience, try Little Bar. Remember, Uber and taxi cabs are easy to get, should you need one.
